Paint extender is a must-have medium for painters of every level. It prolongs the drying time of acrylic paint so you get the most out of your material. It also smooths out paint texture so you can salvage clotted or dried paint.

Why do painters use Floetrol?

Floetrol is a latex paint additive used as a conditioner to help reduce build up on paint brushes, eliminate brush marks and extend drying time. It’s made and distributed by Flood. As oil based paints continue to be phased out, Floetrol gives latex paint a similar flow and leveling of oil based paints.

What is a good substitute for Floetrol?

If you don’t have any water to use, Elmer’s Glue is probably your best option for a Floetrol substitute. You will get the same pouring consistency as Floetrol if you dilute your glue with water. Elmer’s Glue-all (similar to Floetrol) will dry your painting to a matte finish.
