Is Romeo and Juliet a true story?

The story is, indeed, based on the life of two real lovers who lived and died for each other in Verona, Italy in 1303. Shakespeare is known to have discovered this tragic love story in Arthur Brooke’s 1562 poem entitled “The Tragical History of Romeo and Juliet”. … And we, here at Love Happens, are all for it.

Why Romeo and Juliet is not a love story?

The feelings that Romeo and Juliet had for each other were not feelings of true love because Romeo loved Rosaline not too long before he knew Juliet, they barely knew each other, and all of the romantic things they say about each other are about their looks.

Did Romeo and Juliet have a child?

It is very difficult to control the young men. Montague has only one child, a teenage boy called Romeo. Capulet also has only one child, a beautiful 14-year-old daughter called Juliet. They do not know each other, because Juliet never goes anywhere without her nursemaid.

Tybalt is also indirectly responsible. Had he not had such a hot-headed temper and instead agreed with his uncle to let Romeo alone for crashing the ball, Tybalt, as well as Rome and Juliet, would have remained alive. How does Juliet look like?

Her cheeks are rosy and her skin glowing: “the brightness of her cheek would shame those stars” (II,ii,20). Even in death, Romeo finds Juliet “yet so fair” and “crimson in thy lips and in thy cheeks” (V,iii,95). She is young and Romeo considers her beautiful–that’s about all you get.

Even though Paris’s’ love for Juliet was seen as a mere affection for her beauty and Paris had planed to marry Juliet through an arranged marriage, but as the play gets to and end it is show that Paris truly did love Juliet. Paris is a noble and a friend of lord Capulet.

Did Romeo and Juliet Get Married?

Romeo and Juliet get married in secret with the help of Juliet’s nurse and Friar Laurence. Another fight breaks out in Verona and Tybalt kills Romeo’s friend Mercutio. Friar Laurence gives Juliet a potion that will make her appear dead so she does not have to marry again.

Did Romeo and Juliet sleep together?

Romeo and Juliet do sleep together after their secret marriage. This is made clear in act 3, scene 5, when they wake up in bed together at dawn. Juliet urges Romeo to leave before her relatives find him and kill him.

The source for Shakespeare’s play is a poem called The Tragical History of Romeus and Juliet by Arthur Brooke. Shakespeare cuts three years off Juliet’s age to make her the tender age of 13: as Old Capulet says to Paris, ‘she hath not seen the change of fourteen years’.

How old was Juliet when she married Romeo?

Ere we may think her ripe to be a bride. Juliet has not reached that fourteenth year, so this tells us she is thirteen years old. As for Romeo, there is no concrete reference in the text to his age.

What did Juliet used to end her life?

Just like Romeo, she does not want to live without her love. Juliet finds Romeo’s dagger, pulls it from its sheath, and prepares to thrust it into her heart. Just before she commits suicide, she makes a poetic reference, naming her heart as the new sheath for his dagger.
