Don’t try to pull and remove the tool because you may break it. Rather, remove the screw by reversing the drill and backing it out or continue to force the screw into the deck board. Driving the screw in the rest of the way is the recommended method. Once driven in, remove the tool and continue with your project.

How do you remove a composite deck screw?

Remove the drill or drill driver from the screw. Loosen the chuck on the drill or drill driver, reverse the screw extractor, then retighten the chuck. The portion of the screw extractor with the reverse metal cutting threads is now available for use. Reinsert the screw extractor into the head of the damaged screw.

How do you remove old deck boards with stripped screws?

Plug cutters are special drill bits that cut holes into decking boards. For this method, you will need a plug cutter slightly larger than the screw heads. Using the plug cutter, make a hole around the screws. After doing so, you can lift the decking boards out effortlessly.

How do you remove composite decking nails?

To do this, gently pry the decking boards until the nails come loose. Then, use a hammer or any other tool to ram the boards upward. Make sure not to exert too much force to prevent damage to the joists. Saw The Decking Boards – Another method is through sawing the boards using a circular saw.
