how does hot gas bypass work, check these out | Is hot gas bypass same as hot gas reheat?

By Rachel Davis

The hot gas bypass is a valve that automatically regulates the cooling temperature in the dryer exchanger based on the refrigerant pressure. The pressure measured after the heat exchanger directly correlates to the temperature in the system. A low pressure means there will be a low temperature.

Is hot gas bypass same as hot gas reheat?

HOT GAS REHEAT uses the high pressure, high temperature, compressor discharge gas to reheat the air leaving the evaporator coil. HOT GAS BYPASS provides an artificial load on the evaporator by introducing a portion of high pressure, high temperature gas to the evaporator/suction side of the system.

Should hot gas bypass be insulated?

This line must be insulated to prevent heat loss from the discharge line to the ambient. Line sizing should be calculated to not exceed a 6 to 12 psi pressure drop.

How does a hot gas reheat coil work?

Hot gas reheat coils work by routing a portion of the gas that would go to the condenser in a standard system to a reheat coil. This coil then brings the air back up to a suitable temperature. Next, the air travels to a supply fan and then to the system’s primary heating coil.

Does hot gas bypass dehumidify?

As technology advanced, the application of hot-gas bypass can be updated with a modulating compressor. Hot-Gas reheat is effectively the condenser coil as described in this articles beginning and it is typically used for dehumidification.

What does a discharge bypass valve do?

On refrigeration systems, discharge bypass valves are used to prevent the suction pressure from going below the minimum value recommended by the compressor manufacturer.

What is the effect of superheating on cop of a system?

Useful superheating increases both the refrigeration effect as well as the work of compression. Hence the COP (ratio of refrigeration effect and work of compression) may or may not increase with superheat, depending mainly upon the nature of the working fluid.

What is meant by the term blowdown HVAC?

Cooling tower bleed-off/blowdown is the flushing of a portion of high mineral concentration cooling tower system water down the drain, while simultaneously replacing it with fresh water. This process dilutes the system water mineral concentrations that steadily increase due to water evaporation.

What is a false load?

By adding hot gas from the discharge line into the evaporator, we can increase the evaporator pressure and temperature. Because this load is not put there by heat from the return air, the load is referred to as false.

How does liquid injection work?

Liquid injection is a means by which a compressor is cooled to allow it to run reliably under difficult high compression ratio conditions normally seen on low temperature applications. Without this cooling, the compression elements can get too hot and the oil breaks down, leading to compressor failures.

Is hot gas reheat energy recovery?

Hot-gas reheat is a common type of heat recovery often employed in dedicated outside-air systems (DOAS).

How does an aaon unit work?

AAON precision air conditioning systems operate at a high air flow rate per unit heat removed, generally, 120-160 cfm per kW (410-550 cfm per ton) or greater. This high volumetric rate moves more air through the space improving air distribution and reducing the chance of localized hot spots.

What does an HVAC economizer do?

Economizers reduce air conditioning costs by using outside air (OSA) for free cooling causing the compressor to run less. Economizer dampers switch to minimum ventilation position when OSA conditions are not favorable for cooling.

How does reheat work?

Reheat for dehumidification is simply cooling the air with the air conditioner to pull out the moisture. But instead of throwing the heat outside, the reheat coil simply puts that heat back Into the original air stream. It forces an air conditioner to act like a poorly designed dehumidifier.

What’s a reheat coil?

1. In an air-conditioning system, a coil which heats air in the supply duct to control its temperature. 2. A coil which is heated to control the temperature of air being furnished to individual zones, 1.

What does a reheat valve do?

Actuation of the reheat is accomplished by energizing a valve that allows refrigerant hot gas to flow through the hot gas reheat coil. Dehumidification is allowed only when the outside air temperature is above 40F or below 100F. Dehumidification is not allowed if there is an active call for heating .
